Television's longest-running and most anticipated week of programming is here! Shark week, now in its 32nd year, starts August 9th and runs through August 16th with more than 20 hours of shark programming on the Discovery Channel. SHARK WEEK 2020 will take viewers around the world to see how the global lockdown and reduced amount of human activity on the seas has given sharks he opportunity to reclaim the oceans.
Thi year, Shark Week will also be celebrating the 20th anniversary of Air Jaws, the seminal series about the ocean's apex predator. Kicking off the week is Air Jaws: Ultimate Breach Off, as researchers return to one of the last hunting grounds for Air Jaws.
Discovery Channel's legendary natural history filmmaker Jeff Jurr has made 30 shark related documentaries and been a part of the immensely popular Shark Week every year since 1991. He's produced five of the top 10 highest rated Shark Week episodes in the event's history. This year, in addition to Air Jaws: Ultimate Breach Off, Jeff will join fellow shark experts in New Zealand to search for the largest male great white in the work in Jaws Awakens; and he will celebrate two decades of flying sharks with Air Jaws 2020, revisiting the most popular and iconic "Air Jaws" moments!
