In early spring, the population of kittens explodes. At Hillsborough County's Pet Resource Center, we tell people not to be guilty of "kitnapping.'' That's when someone takes a litter of kittens from their mother because they think the kittens have been abandoned. Most times, the mother is simply away for a short time to get food for herself. Before someone takes the kittens home or to a shelter, they should wait at least an hour; most times, the mom is nearby and will come back.
