It’s National Teen Driver Safety Week

Is Your Teen Safe?

Automobile crashes are still the No. 1 killer of teens in our country and while our society, talks a lot about impaired driving ― texting while driving, drunk driving and so on, which are all serious concerns, there are other kinds of impaired driving too, such as driving with impaired tires.  In fact, 12% of crashes among inexperienced drivers involve tire-related issues, and 40% of teens in seven major U.S. cities are driving on UNSAFE tires.  If your tires are impaired, your car is impaired.  First started in 2014, Michelin is teaching  teens about tire safety by comparing it to something they know and understand: their sneakers. In Michelin’s #StreetTread initiative, they explain to teens that your tires are like the shoes for your car — they are the only thing connecting you safely to the ground — which is why taking care of them is absolutely imperative for getting you safely from point A to point B.
Sarah Robinson, tire safety and driving expert, Michelin North America, is on hand to provide and demonstrate tire safety tips that can save lives, as well as share other critical road safety advice for teen drivers.
