Glance at any fashion magazine or social media thread and you will see a multitude of the hottest trends in the beauty industry right now. Thankfully, our resident beauty expert, Michelle Phillips joins us today to share a few of those top trends.
RETINOL REIGNS SUPREME
While retinol (which is pretty much the gold standard for treating everything from acne to wrinkles) was big in 2018, it’s about to get even bigger. Think beyond creams and serums and into new territory: masks, eye treatments and—fingers crossed—hand and body treatments.
DEWY SKIN IS IN
The obsession with dewy skin isn’t going anywhere. People want brighter, dewier skin. But this time, skip the highlighter and instead opt for brightening serums and hydrating oils that are more “lit from within” and less “disco glitter drama queen.”
UNDERSTANDING INGREDIENTS IS KEY
That’s because more and more consumers are reading labels. They’re on the lookout for efficacy, especially in the form of higher levels of active ingredients. Think vitamin C and sunscreen—SPF 50 or more, baby. Going green is no longer a trade-off
There is a surge in all-natural products with instant results—so be on the lookout for clean botanical formulas that actually work.
SUPPLEMENTS ARE SKIN CARE TOO
Thanks to a wealth of resources (i.e., the internet), we now know more than ever about how to maximize our diet for wellness. Expect that self-care mind-set to roll over into the beauty realm with more vitamins and supplements tailored to skin-care goals. Probiotics, vitamin B which all work to prevent breakouts and help.
