PLANT CITY, Fla. — Janice Lamar Momat finds comfort in the weekly visits to her daughter Tiffany's grave site. Momat and her best friend often place memorials such as balloons, flowers and solar lights where Tiffany was laid to rest.

But two weeks ago they found all of the vases and flowers gone, her grave laid bare. Tiffany's mom says a cemetery worker admitted they removed all the decor.

The city of Plant City maintains the cemetery so that's where we started asking questions. In an email, the Director of Parks and Recreation said items that are not attached to the monument are normally bagged and returned to the family. But in this case, a new employee made a mistake and threw it all in the trash.

After looking into what happened city officials offered to reimburse Tiffany’s family for all that was spent on the memorials. Her mom says the gesture brought her some solace. She plans to return later this month and once again memorialize her daughter’s resting place.
