Mason joined the ABC Action News team as an in-depth reporter in October 2021. Mason is a newcomer to the Sunshine State. He moved to Tampa after reporting for two years at WFTS’ sister station, KJRH, in Tulsa, Oklahoma.

Mason was born and raised in the Midwest in Des Moines, Iowa. After graduating from Drake University in 2016, Mason worked as a multimedia journalist in Sioux City, IA. He covered news and sports for two years in Siouxland, before joining the news team at WOWT in Omaha, Nebraska. In 2020, Mason was welcomed to the Scripps family as a multimedia journalist in Tulsa. There, he found his joy for in-depth storytelling through extensive coverage of the 2020 Presidential Election, Oklahoma’s medical marijuana market, and the centennial commemoration of the 1921 Tulsa Race Massacre.

When he’s not running around seeking compelling news stories, Mason is out trying some of Tampa-St. Pete’s finest seafood and rooting on the Bucs, Rays, and Lightning. He’s also an avid movie-goer and enjoys just about all sci-fi flicks.
