Search is on for Local Businesses & Groups to Become Angel Tree Sponsors

It seemed like a crazy idea at first, the temperature gauge was reading 98 degrees but it was time to start thinking about Christmas!
ABC Action News launched its first ever “Christmas in July” campaign on July 15, 2015 on a hope & a prayer.
Our mission: to get local businesses and civic groups thinking about their holiday plans and make Angel Tree a part of their office charities, team building or holiday gift exchange!
The results were amazing! Thank you Tampa Bay!
Here’s a snap shot of the local businesses and schools that came through for six Salvation Army Units in a big way!
Manatee: In Bradenton, employees at Tropicana Orange Juice adopted 75 angels; Blake Medical Center adopted 75 angels and Painting with a Twist hosted a toy drive with customers & received 50 – 60 toys! Also in Manatee County, I.T.T. in Lakewood Ranch adopted 50 angels and at the Lakewood Ranch Cinemas employees & customers adopted 125 angels!
Pinellas: The servers, waitresses and cooks at Sonny’s BBQ in Largo adopted 50 angels! The Culver’s Restaurant on Florida Avenue in Tampa and the Culver’s in New Port Richey adopted 75 angels combined! In Clearwater, the teachers and students at Skycrest Community Church and School adopted 175 angels, and employees at Heritage Insurance adopted 200 angels! In St. Petersburg, the staff at Catalina Marketing also adopted 200 angels!
Hillsborough: The employees at BISK Education in Tampa adopted 200 angels!

Multi- County Approach: New in 2015, 25 bay area locations of The Wing House hosted Angel Trees for employees and customers; as well as all six Bay Area stores of Hudson’s Furniture! Bealls Department Stores in Tampa, Bradenton and Lakeland also served as toy drop off locations for the Salvation Army Angel Tree!
In all, the above named businesses and schools helped the Salvation Army Angel Tree program serve approximately 1,700 needy children!
These organizations were among the sponsors invited with the Salvation Army units in Hillsborough, Pinellas, Polk, Pasco and Manatee to our January 25, 2016 VIP Breakfast! The breakfast with our ABC Action News morning team was by-invitation-only and included a behind-the-scenes tour with news anchors, meteorologist and producers of ABC Action News.
Each Salvation Army commander selected a top sponsor and a new sponsor to bring to this rare and special ABC Action News breakfast. We’re doing it all again for the 2016 Salvation Army Angel Tree program!
If you missed it last year, here’s your chance to participate this year.
Contact the Salvation Army Area Command serving your county and agree to shop for (adopt) at least a dozen “angels” this holiday season!
