Mylon Shamble has been singing for as long as she can remember. Her influencers come from a wide range of musical genres.

On Monday night, the Bradenton bartender's audition in front of Katy Perry, Luke Bryan and Lionel Richie aired on American Idol and from the start, the judges were a little weary of her song choice. Mylon chose to sing "Stand By Me" for her big moment. Katy Perry said "It feels like a 'B' selection... Do whatever is going to showcase your voice." Luke Bryan added "Do 'Stand By Me' don't get upset if we stop you."

Katy Perry stood corrected... She told Mylon "that was the best 'Stand By Me' I've ever heard."

Luke Bryan told Mylon to "keep going" and finish the song as he and the judges waved her golden ticket to Hollywood and she finished singing.

"I'm going to Hollywood!" said Mylon after she wow'ed the judges during her audition.

ABC Action News Anchor Laura Harris spoke to Mylon before her audition on the show aired. She could only tell us a few things about her audition. We had to wait until the show aired to find out if she made it through. Here's what she told us before we knew she made it through.

"I also love a good Janice Joplin, Alabama shakes, hard rock covers and Lauryn Hill,” said Shamble. “Somewhere in between those three."

Now, Mylon is closer than ever to making her singing dreams come true.  She has made it to the celebrity judges Kerry Perry, Luke Bryan and Lionel Richey on American Idol.

"I’ve had some friends that have had some semi success singing and I’m like... wow... I wanna be where they are now or never. I have to go get it,” said Shamble.

Shamble has been holding down three jobs, one of which is at the Modern Gents Bar and Barbershop in Bradenton.  It’s a bar that doubles as a barbershop, a place Shamble says she loves and a place she can just be herself.

She continues to do side gigs in and around the Tampa Bay area with the thought that she is just one performance away from really being discovered!

"I will find a way to make it happen. Even though it hasn’t happened just yet, it will! You know what I mean," said Shamble.

American Idol airs Sunday and Monday nights on your ABC Action News station at 8 p.m.
