Jamie Hughes is a Professor of Songwriting at St. Petersburg College, and also serves as the Lead Songwriting Instructor for the annual Tampa Bay Grammy Museum®’s Music Revolution Project® at Ruth Eckerd Hall. She holds an MA in Music from Western Carolina University, and a BA in Elementary Education (w/ Broad Endorsement in K-12 Band and Chorus). Jamie is a songwriting researcher and practicing songwriter. Her work mostly focuses on song trend analysis, popular music pedagogies, effective songwriting through fundamental songwriting approaches, and music literacy appropriate for songwriting. She has composed music for children, jingles and plays, as well as written hundreds of songs.
