Jason Adams is happy to be back home in the Sunshine State as our Weekend Meteorologist here at ABC Action News. Jason is from the Florida Panhandle, but is thrilled to call Tampa his new home. Jason comes to us from our Scripps station in Cincinnati, Ohio. Prior to Cincinnati, Jason worked in Michigan, Arkansas, and Tallahassee.
Jason is a graduate of Florida State University. While there, he earned his Bachelor's of Science degree in Meteorology, along with a minor in Mathematics. While Jason was a senior at FSU, he got his first job on air at the ABC affiliate in Tallahassee.
Jason's no stranger to Florida weather. Growing up, he recalls being evacuated from Tyndall AFB in Panama City to MacDill AFB when threatened by hurricanes in the Panhandle. Jason also went through Hurricane Ivan in 2004 that devastated parts of the western Florida Panhandle. He and his parents rode the storm out while winds peaked at over 100 mph in Crestview, Florida. Jason also was on air for more than 24 hours straight as Tropical Storm Fay dropped over two feet of rain in Tallahassee back in 2008.
When not tracking thunderstorms or hurricanes, Jason is most likely to be found on the beach. He is a surfer, an ocean advocate, and has a passion for shark conservation. He is a volunteer for the American Cancer Society and has worked with the organization for more than seven years. He volunteers his time during Relay for Life, Pink Night, and Making Strides. He also participated in the Real Men Wear Pink last year in Cincinnati that helped earn them a top 10 spot nationally for their fundraiser for breast cancer research.
Feel free to reach out to Jason on social media as well. He's active on Twitter and Facebook!
