"What do you want to be when you grow up?”
It’s one of the most frequently asked questions on the planet!  Yet, the ten simple words can send you soaring with inspiration or drop you into a panic attack!
Most of us can’t afford the platitudes.  We need a real-life plan of action because staying in “dreamland” has us frustrated, in-debt and under employed.
The numbers don’t lie. A staggering 48 percent of adults with college degrees are under-employed. (Source: U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics)  That means 48 percent of Americans with a 4 to 6 year college degree are working in jobs that require only a high school diploma, a 2 year college degree or a certificate program.
Employment experts point to the reality of the 1:2:7 ratio.
Student loan debt is higher than ever, exceeding car payments and credit card debt. Student loan debt in the U.S. now stands at nearly $1.3 trillion! (Source: Federal Student Aid Office, U.S. Department of Education)
At ABC Action News, we want to help our viewers do that in a way that places results and career counseling at your fingertips.
We're partnering with the Pinellas Education Foundation and Career Source Tampa Bay.  At the heart of our campaign is the foundation’s “Future Plans” interactive, online survey.
During the August 15 – September 9, 2016 campaign, ABC Action News’ viewers will be able to take the survey, at no cost.  Participants will receive a confidential summary report of their results and career counselors at local offices of Career Source Tampa Bay will review the results with you for free!
