TAMPA, Fla. - The Tampa Bay Lightning has traded Captain Martin St. Louis to the New York Rangers just a few hours before the NHL Trade Deadline was set to expire.
The Lightning receives New York’s Ryan Callahan and a pair of draft picks in exchange for St. Louis.
ESPN is reporting, Tampa Bay has received New York’s first-round draft pick in the 2015 and second round pick in the 2014 NHL Draft.
Trade rumors started to swirl around St. Louis when Lightning general manager Steve Yzerman initially passed on selecting St. Louis for the Canadian Olympic team in Sochi.
St. Louis was eventually picked for the Olympics once teammate Steven Stamkos was scratched from the Canadian roster due to his broken leg.
St. Louis takes his 369 goals and 973 career points to New York. He’s spent the last 13 years in a Lightning uniform.
The Bolts have not yet confirmed the trade.
