MOORE, Okla. - It wasn't long after the EF-4 tornado hit near Oklahoma City on Monday that the comparisons started to the Joplin tornado of 2011.
One woman who spoke with 41 Action News may be better suited than anyone to make that parallel.
Katie Ratliff survived the Joplin storm, and has been living in Moore temporarily for work.
She says she and her friend couldn't find an appropriate shelter when the tornado hit Monday, so they hid in a storm shelter.
"We got under the bridge there," Ratliff said. "Got as low as we could."
She says her friend covered her up.
"And then just as it passed, it went over us. We just tightened and held on. He got hit with some things, and my hand got hit. There's no complaints here. I'm just lucky to be alive."
