Lois Avenue entrance to southbound I-275 is closed for six months

Lois ramp closure is part of I-275 reconstruction

TAMPA - Another ramp closure - part of the I-275 reconstruction project in Tampa - is detouring drivers in the Westshore and International Plaza areas.

The entrance ramp onto southbound I-275 from Lois Avenue closed just before 5 A.M. Tuesday, January 7. It is estimated to remain closed until early June 2014.

DETOUR GOING TO HOWARD FRANKLAND BRIDGE: Go west on Cypress Street, turn left after crossing under State Road 60/Memorial Highway (west of O'Brien Street) and use that entrance ramp to southbound I-275 towards St. Petersburg.

DETOUR GOING TO WESTBOUND SR 60/MEMORIAL HIGHWAY: Go west on Cypress Street, turn right onto O'Brien Street and go north to Spruce Street, then turn left onto Spruce Street and go west to the ramps to westbound State Road 60/Veterans Expressway or Tampa International Airport.

The closure is part of a series of changes required for the $215.4M I-275 reconstruction project that began in July, 2012. The Florida Department of Transportation is rebuilding and widening Interstate 275 from east of State Road 60 to the Hillsborough River in downtown Tampa. This project will reconstruct all of the southbound interstate in that area, as well as northbound I-275 from east of State Road 60 to Himes Avenue. (Northbound I-275 was rebuilt from Himes Avenue to downtown in a project that was completed in April 2010.)

The entrance ramp onto northbound I-275 from Lois Avenue closed April 9, 2013. It is estimated to remain closed until late 2014.
