TAMPA - The State of Florida wants to change the look of its license plate, and you can help choose the new design.
Florida plans to make vehicle tags clearly readable for police and cameras. The state loses millions of dollars a year at tolls and intersections when cameras are unable to read the plates of offenders' vehicles.
This will be the first time since 1978 that license plates will not have the Florida peninsula. But the image of an orange remains in all four designs. The orange has been on the plate since 1997.
You can expect to see the new tags on the roads starting in 2014.
