The Tampa Bay Buccaneers placed fullback B.J.
Askew on the non-football injury list, ending his season, and signed
cornerback Marcus McCauley on Tuesday.
The 6-foot-3, 233-pound Askew played in the first five games this season with
Tampa Bay. He sustained back and neck injuries in a car accident early last
week.
Askew was the only fullback on the club's roster. The versatile Earnest Graham
took over the lead-blocking duties during a 28-21 loss to the Panthers this
past Sunday.
McCauley, who was originally a third-round pick of Minnesota in the 2007
draft, was released by the Lions on September 28. In 27 career games (10
starts), he has recorded 66 tackles and 10 passes defensed.
Also on Tuesday, the team released cornerback Derrick Roberson from the active
roster and re-signed him to the practice squad.
