Tampa Bay Buccaneers guard Carl Nicks headed for IR and surgery on his left toe

Nicks loss a big one for the Bucs O-Line

TAMPA - The Tampa Bay Buccaneers announced today that they have placed G Carl Nicks and TE Danny Noble on Injured Reserve. The team also announced that it has elevated G Roger Allen to the active roster from its practice squad.

Nicks, who will require surgery to repair a torn plantar plate in his left toe, has started all seven games with the Buccaneers since joining the team this season as an unrestricted free agent. He played in all 71 of his teams' games since entering the league in 2008, including 68 consecutive starts.

With Nicks anchoring the offensive line, the Buccaneers have allowed the fifth-fewest sacks in the NFL, while ranking ninth in the league in points per game. Over the past three weeks, Tampa Bay leads the entire NFL in points, total yards, passing yards and yards per play and ranks third in rushing yards.

Noble (hamstring), a rookie from Toledo, has played in four games and been inactive for three others this season.

Allen (6-3, 325) is in his third season from Missouri Western State after entering the league with St. Louis in 2009. After earning a 53-man roster spot out of training camp, he went on to play in two games that season, including one start.
