Tampa - Hard to believe we're already into week 11 of the NFL season.
Time flies when you're having fun, and the Bucs are having fun.
They're 5-4 on the year, a ½ game out of the playoffs, and humming with a three-game win streak.
This week it's Carolina.
In week one, the Bucs beat the Panthers 16-10 at home.
Since that time Carolina has become a wrecking ball inside their walls.
Their GM was fired, and then last week their special teams coach was jettisoned.
Sounds like an implosion.
Yet, their defense has picked it up several notches.
Carolina's defense has held opponents to 20 points or less in each of their last five games.
The good news is, they've lost four of them because their offense is really struggling.
The complete opposite of what's going on with this Bucs team.
Josh Freeman the Bucs O is rocking the scoreboard, scoring 28 or more points in each of last five games, a team record.
The defense has given up some points, but has found a way to close it out in the 4 th quarters.
What has me concerned is the possible loss of Jamon Meredith at left guard. He got injured in practice this week and was on crutches.
I have no idea who will start in his place if need be. Word is Roger Allen is next man up.
I know as much about Roger Allen as I do Woody Allen.
But then again, Meredith stepped in nicely in Oakland and did his job.
Maybe Allen will too. I'm kind of banking on it.
I say kind of because Carolina's front four has really improved.
With this game on the road, I'm a bit concerned.
Yet, there is no way I can go with the Panthers in this game.
QB Cam Newton and that offense have done little to nothing the entire season.
Here's hoping that trend continues for at least one more week.
I'm taking the Bucs the points and go to a surprising 6-4 on the season with Atlanta coming to town November 25.
