Buccaneers start cutting roster to 53

According to numerous reports, the cuts are rolling in from One Buc Place.  Amongst those who won't be on the 53-man roster are DE Kyle Moore, DT John McCargo and MLB Tyrone McKenzie.

Other reports have both quarterbacks who played last night in Washington, Rudy Carpenter and Jonathan Crompton, being cut as well.  The ending of the Third Quarterback Rule no longer makes it a requirement to carry a third emergency QB, so Rudy was likely a casualty of that rule change, and nothing he did last night changed the minds of those at One Buc.  It will be interesting to see what plays out in the backup QB role, as Josh Johnson is expected to look for a starting opportunity after this season.

As for the three M's to go, Moore, McCargo and McKenzie all have to be disappointing cuts.  Moore was a Bucs' 4th round pick in 2009, but the addition of Da'Quan Bowers and Adrian Clayborn didn't help his cause.

McKenzie, out of USF, was a third round pick that same year by the Patriots, and came to the Bucs last season after getting dropped off the Pats' practice squad.  He was expected to compete for the starting job at middle linebacker, but was beat out by rookie Mason Foster.

McCargo was a former first round pick by the Bills, and was signed by Bucs less than two weeks ago.

Stay tuned for the carnage to continue.
