Grant Balfour is headed back to Tampa Bay.
The All-Star closer signed a two-year, $12 million deal pending a physical.
Balfour was with the Rays from 2007-2010. posting his best season in 2008.
In Balfour's final season with the Oakland A's last year, he saved 38 games in 41 chances with a 2.59 ERA, 1.20 WHIP and 72 strikeouts in 62 2/3 innings.
Balfour might have a little chip on his shoulder when he faces Baltimore this season.
Orioles team doctors nixed an earlier deal with the club in December when he failed his physical.
Balfour won't have to wait long to face the Orioles. The Rays play Baltimore in a three-game series April 14-16.
So this signing officially ends the return of Fernando Rodney, who coincidentally is in talks with the Baltimore Orioles.
