FSU moving on to BCS Championship game after Duke defeat

CHARLOTTE, N.C. - It looks like it'll be Florida State against Auburn in the BCS championship game next month, and the Tigers can thank Michigan State for helping them get there.

Second-ranked Ohio State had the inside track on a BCS title game appearance until the 10th-ranked Spartans downed the Buckeyes 34-24 for the Big Ten championship. The Buckeyes owned a 24-game winning streak and were leading 24-20 until Josiah Price grabbed a 9-yard touchdown pass from Connor Cook with 11:41 remaining. Jeremy Langford all-but sealed the victory with a 26-yard scoring run with 2:16 left.

Cook threw for 304 yards and three touchdowns for Michigan State, which blew a 17-0 lead by allowing 24 consecutive points.

OSU quarterback Braxton Miller threw for one touchdown and ran for 142 yards and two TDs. But Miller was just 8 of 21 for 101 yards as the Buckeyes suffered their first loss under second-year coach Urban Meyer, dashing their championship hopes.

Third-ranked Auburn now has national championship hopes after winning the SEC title game, 59-41 over fifth-ranked Missouri. Tre Mason rushed for 304 yards and four touchdowns for Auburn, which set an SEC championship game record with total 677 yards, including 545 on the ground.

Missouri's James Franklin passed for 303 yards and three touchdowns, while Dorial Green-Beckham hauled in six passes for 144 yards and a couple of scores. Although the Tigers piled up 534 total yards, they failed to score in the fourth quarter and couldn't come up with the defensive stops needed to silence Auburn's offense.

The top-ranked Seminoles clinched their BCS title-game appearance by clobbering No. 20 Duke 45-7 in the ACC championship game. Heisman Trophy favorite Jameis (JAYM'-ihs) Winston was 19 of 32 for 330 yards and three touchdowns as the `Noles rolled up 569 yards of total offense. Winston also ran for a TD and set FBS freshman records for TD passes and yards passing in a season, two days after prosecutors decided not to press charges against him in a sexual assault case.

Florida State held the Blue Devils to 239 yards and improved to 13-0 with their 12th straight victory by at least 27 points.
