Bicycle trail from St. Petersburg to Titusville in the works

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. - Florida lawmakers have agreed to spend $50 million for a coast-to-coast bicycle trail.  The money would be used to close seven gaps between existing trails.

The plan is to connect the Pinellas Trail in St. Petersburg with trails in Pasco, Hernando, Lake, Orange, Seminole, Volusia and Brevard counties.  The state must also acquire roughly 41 miles of land to complete the project.

If finished, the trail would be 275 miles long, connecting St. Petersburg to Titusville near Cape Canaveral.

However, governor Rick Scott could veto the project.
