According to our partners at SBNation, the Rays were expected to trade Price due to their limited financial situation .
Price, a four-time All-Star, has spent his entire career with the Rays. Since joining Tampa Bay in 2008, he has won 82 games and struck out 1,065 batters while compiling a 3.18 ERA and 1.14 WHIP.
Price won the 2012 Cy Young, which means the Tigers now employ the 2011 Cy Young winner in Justin Verlander, the 2012 Cy Young winner in Price and the 2013 Cy Young winner in Max Scherzer.
