Worker killed after falling 180 feet off water tower in Pasadena

PASADENA, Md. - A 21-year-old worker died Wednesday after he fell 180 feet off a water tower in Pasadena, Md., according to Anne Arundel County fire officials.

The man, who police have not named yet, was declared dead at the scene after the accident in the 3700 block of Mountain Road.

Emergency responders were dispatched to the site of the accident located behind the Eastern District Police Station just before 2:30 p.m., according to a release from Anne Arundel County Division Chief Keith Swindle

"The victim was a worker employed by a private contracting company and was working on communications equipment that is located atop of the tower which is approximately 180 feet tall," the release states. "Paramedics aggressively attempted to resuscitate the worker at the scene however the victim was pronounced dead a short time later."

Anne Arundel County police said the Maryland Office of Safety and Health and the Maryland State Police will investigate the accident.
