Woman severely burned in fireworks accident dies

AUBURNDALE, Fla. - A woman critically injured after fireworks accidently ignited inside a home has died.  It happened at about 9:00p.m. at the 200 block of Eaker Street in Auburndale on Friday night.

The family of Kathryn Flint was gathered at the home for a 4th of July celebration.  Flint went inside a bedroom to get fireworks.  One of the fireworks accidently ignited causing other fireworks in the room to go off.  The fireworks caused explosions and fire inside the home.

Flint’s son, Christopher Flint went to the bedroom and removed an air conditioning unit that allowed Kathryn to escape.

Kathryn was transported to Orlando Regional Medical Center where she passed away.  Christopher Flint was also transported to Lakeland Regional Hospital. He has since been released.

One dog that was in the room at the time of the explosions died.  Another dog was burned and taken to Polk County Sheriff’s Animal Control.

Detectives continue to investigate what caused the fireworks to initially explode.
