Woman attacked after leaving work in Sarasota

SARASOTA, Fla - A woman was attacked after leaving work in Sarasota on Saturday.

It happened on the 300 block of Cocoanut Avenue in Sarasota.  According to a release by the Sarasota Police Department, the woman was leaving work at approximately 11:30 p.m. Saturday.

The victim said a black male asked if he could use her phone.  He then grabbed her and threw her to the ground. The victim was able to get away.  Citizens chased the man, but they could not catch him.

The suspect is described as a black male in his late 20s or 30s with short braided hair and a little facial hair.  He was last seen wearing a black zippered fleece jacket, white shirt and blue jeans.
