Three tiger cubs were born at Busch Gardens

TAMPA - Malayan tigers Bzui and Mata are parents for the first time. The three cubs are the first Malayan tigers born Busch Gardens Tampa.

The cubs, two males and one female, are about a month old and each weighs between 6 and 7 pounds.

The cubs and their mother are currently behind the scenes and are being monitored by the park's animal care team. The animal care team will introduce the cubs to the Jungala habitat when they are about 2 months old.

According to Busch Gardens, one of the male cubs is suffering from anemia and has developed a rare but benign skin condition. The cub is currently in serious condition. He is being monitored by veterinarians and is undergoing treatments.

Malayan tigers are only found only in the southern tip of Thailand and the Malay Peninsula. It's estimated that only 500 Malayan tigers remain in the wild.
