Tropical Depression #16 forms near Central Bahamas, not expected to become a storm

TAMPA - Tropical Depression 16 formed Thursday morning near the Central Bahamas.  But it probably won't get far.

At 11 a.m., the system was 235 miles east-northeast of the Central Bahamas moving slowly south with top sustained winds of 35 mph.

The good news, wind shear is expected to cause the system to dissipate in the near future, according to the National Hurricane Center.

Meanwhile, another system about 350 miles west of the Windward Islands has a medium chance - 50 percent - of becoming a tropical cyclone over the next few days.

It's moving west-northwest at 10-15 mph, still far from Florida.
