Bush backs McCollum for governor

Last Update: 11/03/2009 10:55 am

MIAMI - Former Florida Governor Jeb Bush wants to see Bill McCollum become the state's next governor.

Bush announced on Tuesday he is supporting McCollum's bid and he will work hard to get him elected.

"At this critical time in our state's history, we need a chief executive who will meet our challenges head on and stay true to the core conservative principles of limited government, fiscal discipline and the protection of liberty tempered by personal responsibility," Bush said in a news release.

Bush was elected governor of Florida in 1998 and served two terms in office. Governor Charlie Crist was elected in 2006 but is running for U.S. Senate in 2010.
