FORT MYERS, FL (AP) -- Authorities are investigating the fatal shooting of say an 80-pound bear in a west Florida park.

Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission officials say the bear shot at San Carlos Park Thursday night is not the same one seen in Fort Myers earlier this week. That was a larger bear.

Officials also said the public should alert authorities when they see a potentially dangerous animal instead of dealing with it on their own.
