SeaWorld needs help naming Gentoo penguin chick

ORLANDO, Fla. - SeaWorld Orlando is asking for help in naming one of its newly hatched penguin chicks.

Since November 30, fifteen penguin chicks have hatched at SeaWorld's Antarctica: Empire of the Penguin attraction.

The theme park is asking its Facebook fans to vote to name one of its Gentoo chicks.

The Gentoo penguin is known for its orange-red bill and feet and white "cap" that extends over their heads similar to a bonnet.

While Gentoo penguins are smaller than the taller Emperor penguin, they are much faster in the water. Gentoos have a top swimming speed between 22 and 25 miles per hour.

SeaWorld narrowed the names the public can vote for to four choices: Nelson, Greyson, Trumpet and Patch.

Each name has a meaning for the Gentoo.

Nelson is derived from the Nelson Island, the land Gentoos are native to. Greyson is for the gray color Gentoo chicks have on their backs. Trumpet comes from the noise Gentoo penguins make which often are referred to as a trumpet. Patch is for the white patch that can be found  above their eyes.

To cast your vote, you must "Like" the official SeaWorld Orlando Facebook page .

Voting started Wednesday morning and will continue through Sunday, January 26. The name with the most votes wins. The winning name will be announced on Monday, January 27.
