Orlando officer shot at least twice in stomach during traffic stop, two suspects arrested

ORLANDO, Fla. - Orlando Police have made two arrests in the early morning shooting of an officer who sustained multiple gunshots to the abdomen, according to the police department.

WFTV reports A 7-year-old girl was in the car that belonged to one of the suspects when police made the arrest.

The shooting happened during a traffic stop 2:30 a.m. Tuesday.

Officer Jason Hajek pulled over a vehicle that was traveling recklessly.

Officials say the suspects, Demetrius Patterson, and a second man who has not yet been identified, got out of their vehicle and shot 25-year-old Hajek at least twice in the stomach at an Orlando intersection.

The officer was able to shoot back at the men and they fled on foot.

Hajek also called for help and gave a description of the suspects to dispatch.

Patterson was arrested in his vehicle and the second suspect was found in a wooded area and taken into custody.

The officer is undergoing surgery and police say he's expected to be okay.
