Man shoots at Orlando police officer after traffic stop

ORLANDO - Authorities say a man who had been ticketed by an Orlando police officer returned to the area and fired a gun at the officer.

Police say the officer ticketed the man while working a traffic enforcement detail in Baldwin Park Wednesday afternoon.

That driver returned to the area on a motorized scooter and wearing a mask a short time later. Police say he intentionally ran a stop sign in front of the officer and then crashed the scooter.

The officer approached the man, who reportedly attacked the officer. During the struggle, police say the man pulled out a gun and shot at the officer several times. The officer didn't return fire.

The suspect, who wasn't immediately named, was eventually restrained. He sustained minor injuries, but no gunshot wounds were reported.

It wasn't clear what charges would be filed.
