Man flown from Victory Cruise ship to local hospital by Coast Guard

MIAMI - Members from Coast Guard Air Station in Clearwater responded to a medical call on Carnival's Victory cruise ship Sunday morning.

The ship was near Cuba at the time of the call.

According to officials Herman Lebron, 88, was suffering from internal injuries needing medical evaluation while on the cruise.

A USCG MH-60 and C-130 aircrew were dispatched to the cruise ship. crew members were able to get to Lebron on the ship and soon determined he needed to be transported to a nearby hospital.

He was flown to Lower Keys Medical Center in Key West, Florida.

His current medical condition is unknown.
