The Florida Wildlife Hospital and Sanctuary has been caring for three orphaned otter pups found at a Titusville residential construction site.

Multiple media outlets report the 5-week-old North American river otter pups have spent the past two weeks at the facility. They remain highly dependent on their caretakers.

Tracy Frampton, the hospital's executive director, says their den was discovered when a homeowner was replacing a driveway.

When they were found, an adult otter ran off and didn't return.

Frampton says the otters are doing well, but their condition could change at any moment.

If they survive the early period of their lives, they'll be moved to a large outdoor enclosure with a pool.

Frampton says the hospital is in need of donations. It costs about $2,300 to help raise each otter.
