TALLAHASSEE, Fla. - The Florida Department of Law Enforcement is working to keep children safe from online predators.
As summer vacations begin, the FDLE is asking parents and guardians to talk with their children about computer safety.
In 2011, law enforcement in Florida arrested more than 1,200 people who tried to victimize children using the internet.
Over the next three months, the FDLE will be placing weekly tips on its Facebook page.
The tips are designed to educate the public and provide tools to enhance computer safety for children.
As technology changes, the victimization of children is becoming more prevalent. It is paramount that law enforcement and the public work together to keep children safe, authorities said.
