The most expensive health insurance premiums for an individual in Florida under the new health care plan are in the Florida Keys.
Federal data released late Tuesday shows that the state's most expensive plans are in Monroe County.
The plans are offered by Florida Blue, and they have the highest level of benefits, known as platinum plans. They would cost a 27-year-old person nearly $460 a month and a 50-year-old person $782 a month.
The state's cheapest monthly premiums were for plans that cover only catastrophic emergencies. They were offered by insurer Coventry One in Broward County. For those plans, a 27-year-old would pay almost $86 a month and a 50-year-old would pay $146 monthly.
Florida residents Tuesday were allowed to start shopping for health insurance on government-run online marketplaces.
