Amber alert update: Missing 2-year-old girl found safe

IMMOKALEE, Fla. - UPDATE: A Collier deputy found a young girl in a field close to the home of a 2-year-old girl who went missing Sunday night, Naples News reports.

The Collier County Sheriff's Office confirmed that girl is Denise Hernandez.

A bloodhound was used to find the child and she was treated by medics.

The Amber Alert has been canceled.


Previous report:  The Florida Department of Law Enforcement issued an Amber Alert early Monday morning for 2-year-old Denise Hernandez.

The FBI and the Florida Department of Law enforcement is treating this case as an abduction.

Hernandez was last seen in the area of the 400 block of Wells Street in Immokalee, after she was put to bed.

The window to the child's room was found open when she was discovered missing about 11:30 p.m. Sunday. The window was closed when she was put to bed earlier, according to her guardian.

Hernandez is described as a Hispanic female with black hair and brown eyes. She is approximately 3 feet tall and weighs 40 pounds.

She was wearing a white pajama gown with multi-colored stripes.

The Child Abduction Response Team says they're "putting all the resources we can" to find the missing girl.
