George Zimmerman's wife, Shellie, has filed for divorce, according to ABC News.
Zimmerman was acquitted of murder in the fatal shooting of 17-year-old Trayvon Martin July 14.
Shellie, 26, stood by George's side after he was charged for Martin's murder in the February 2012 fatal shooting, and she remained with him throughout the duration of the trial.
But in a revealing ABC News exclusive interview in late August, Shellie revealed that her marriage with Zimmerman was on the rocks. (
"Of course I want to have children and stay married," she said. But when asked if she wanted to stay with George, she said she wasn't sure.
She said her and George had actually gotten in an argument the night before the unarmed teenager was shot.
Shellie happened to be staying somewhere else Feb. 26, when the shooting occurred.
She recently plead guilty to perjury after lying to the judge about the couple's finances during her estranged husband's bond hearing.
While Shellie was constantly by George's side during his murder trial, George was not in court during her perjury case.
Shellie said she felt like she was "hung out to dry" when George didn't stand up for her when she lied about the monetary donations from outsiders. She said the whole experience strained their relationship.
When asked if George had a temper or if he'd done anything volatile, she said, "Not going to answer that."
She also acknowledged that she and George spending a year and a half in hiding, living in "terror" as they awaited the murder trial, took a toll on the relationship.
