Apple Senior Vice President of Worldwide product marketing Phil Schiller announces the new iPhone 5 during an Apple special event at the Yerba Buena Center for the Arts on September 12, 2012 in San Francisco, California.
NEW YORK - Rumors have been swirling for some time now about the next Apple iPhone. According to a report, the company is about to reveal not one, but two new versions.
Wall Street Journal is reporting the tech giant will offer a high-end and a low-end version of the iconic product.
The phone's assembler, Hon Hai Precision Industry Co., has been asked to begin shipment of the two new models in early September, according to the WSJ report.
If that turns out to be the case, the new iPhones could be in the hands of consumers by late September.
Sources close to Apple say the company is planning a September 10 rollout event. It was not clear if both models would be introduced at the same time.
