School principal being investigated for not telling anyone about reported sex acts between students

BRADENTON, Fla. - The principal of the Imagine School in Manatee County is being investigated for knowing about reports of sexual acts going on at the school between students but not reporting them.

Deputies began investigating Selena Quionnes in October after a parent reported that her 5 year old said another student performed oral sex on him and another student at the school. Quionnes, who was named "Teacher of the Year" previously at another school, is on paid administrative leave while the sheriff's department investigates claims she didn't report the sexual acts to authorities.

Imagine School is a K through 8 charter school in Lakewood Ranch in Bradenton.

The Manatee County Sheriff's Office has recommended that Quionnes be charged with failing to report child abuse, which is a felony. The state attorney's office will decide if charges should be filed.
