Tampa PD searching for driver who may have caused fatal crash on Waters Avenue

Truck driver may have caused chain-reaction crash

TAMPA, Fla. - Tampa Police say the driver of a pick-up truck may have caused a chain-reaction on Waters Avenue near Old Road Sunday around 7:35 p.m.

Investigators say are looking for a 2000-2007 silver/gray Ford F-150.

The truck driver may have caused Gabriela Padilla, 24, of Tampa who was driving her Jeep Cherokee westbound on Waters to veer into the eastbound lanes, hitting the Passat driven by Elizabeth Tristam Barford, 41, of Tampa. 

Barford died at the scene, and her passenger Joe Ripley, 32, was taken to a hospital with serious injuries.

Padilla was taken to Women's Hospital for observation with non-life threatening Injuries.

Two passengers in the Jeep also were hurt.

They are Jason Perez-Hechavarri, 26, and Edel Gonzalez, 23.
