The repair of a water main break that shut down northbound Dale Mabry Highway between Cherokee Avenue and West Gandy Boulevard on Monday evening is taking longer than expected.
The Tampa Water Department expects work to be completed 6 p.m. Friday, August 22.
The closure made part of a major artery in Tampa impassable on Hillsborough County’s first day of school.
As many as 33,500 vehicles travel that portion of South Dale Mabry Highway daily, according to the Florida Department of Transportation.
The school district says bus drivers may adjust their routes as a result of the closure.
