Tampa Police issued a ticket to a driver Tuesday morning after he struck a girl walking to school. She was the last in a group crossing 22nd Street in a crosswalk at Diana Street just before 7:00 a.m.
The driver, a 47-year-old man, was heading southbound on 22nd Street in a 2002 Chrysler, and failed to stop.
The girl, 12, was taken to St. Joseph's Hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
The driver of the vehicle told police that he did not see the child crossing the street.
Police officers cited him for failure to yield to a pedestrian at a crosswalk.
