Walking to school, girl, 12, hit in crosswalk by car

Tampa Police issued a ticket to a driver Tuesday morning after he struck a girl walking to school.  She was the last in a group crossing 22nd Street in a crosswalk at Diana Street just before 7:00 a.m.
 
The driver, a 47-year-old man, was heading southbound on 22nd Street in a 2002 Chrysler, and failed to stop.
 
The girl, 12, was taken to St. Joseph's Hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
 
The driver of the vehicle told police that he did not see the child crossing the street.  
 
Police officers cited him for failure to yield to a pedestrian at a crosswalk.
