Tropical Storm Oscar forms in Atlantic, Nadine lingers on

MIAMI - Tropical Storm Oscar formed in the distant Atlantic late Wednesday night some 1200 miles west-northwest of the Cape Verde Islands.  Meanwhile, Tropical Storm Nadine continues to hang in there.

Oscar has maximum sustained winds of 40 mph and is moving toward the north-northwest at 9 mph.

Little change in strength is expected and Oscar poses no threat to the U.S.

Tropical Storm Nadine is located about 75 miles west-southwest of Lajes Air Force Base in the Azores and a Tropical Storm Warning is in effect for the region..

Maximum winds are 45 mph with movement toward the northeast at 23 mph.

Satellite imagery shows Nadine losing its tropical cyclone characteristics and is expected to become aa post-tropical cyclone later today.
