MIAMI - As a tropical storm, Gabrielle didn't last very long.
The system was downgraded to a Tropical Depression Thursday morning and is expected to degenerate into a remnant low tonight or tomorrow.
A Tropical Storm Warning for Puerto Rico has been discontinued, although heavy rainfall, up to 8 inches, is still expected from the system.
At 11. a.m. Thursday, the depression was centered about 105 miles west-southwest of Ponce, Puerto Rico. Maximum winds were 35 mph as the system moved northwest at 9 mph.
Another system in the southwest Gulf of Mexico has a 30 percent chance of becoming a tropical cyclone before it moves inland along the coast of mainland Mexico, according to the National Hurricane Center.
