TAMPA - A mother who police say took her 2-year-old daughter from a Tampa hospital an hour after the child underwent surgery turned herself Friday afternoon, according to TPD.
The child was taken back to St. Joseph's Hospital.
Teosha Blackmon, 29, surrendered around 4 p.m., two hours after police issued a media alert about the missing child and mom. She was charged with child neglect.
The girl, Constance Bostwick, was admitted May 10 to St. Joe's. After the surgery, Blackmon removed the IVs and took the child, Constance Bostick, against the advice of doctors.
Hospital staff contacted police to conduct a welfare check, but neither the girl nor her mother could be found.
On Thursday, the girl was declared a ward of the state, but all leads were exhausted.
Blackmon had unrelated warrants for her arrest for felony grand theft and battery probation violation.
TPD credited social media for playing a role in Friday's outcome.
The child was taken to St. Joseph's Hospital for observation and appears to be in good health, police said.
