TAMPA - The National Weather Service lifted a Tornado Watch that had been issued for parts of the Tampa Bay area, including Charlotte, DeSoto, Highlands, and Lee Counties.
A Tornado Watch means conditions are favorable for tornadic activity.
A Tornado Warning is the likely presence of an actual tornado in a specified region as indicated by radar or visual evidence.
The severe weather conditions were the result of a surface storm over the northern Gulf combined with potent upper level energy.
