Todd "MJ" Schnitt responds to lawsuit loss to Bubba the Love Sponge Clem

TAMPA - Radio personality Todd "MJ" Schnitt invited the bay area media into the WFLA studios Thursday afternoon to answer questions about his defamation lawsuit loss to Bubba the Love Sponge Clem.

Schnitt began with a defiant monologue on Wednesday's verdict.

"I've had better days.  I was disappointed," he said. "I respect the jury's verdict.  But, I'm still allowed to disagree with the verdict, and I do."

Schnitt claimed he would "do this all over again."

He said while he felt he was fair game for Bubba on all levels, his wife, Michelle, was not.  He added he suffered most over the verbal attacks he said was aimed at her.  He waved off claims that his wife was fair game.

Schnitt argued that Clem's comments "...went beyond free speech. It was defamation."

On Wednesday, alternate juror Alana Wilshire summed it up this way: "I don't think they were able to prove defamation, in my opinion," she said. "I think anybody that runs and cries and hides in their house because someone called them a name kind of needs to grow up, you know, develop a thicker skin."

After being asked to respond to a criticism that he needs to put his "big girl panties on and get over this," Schnitt intimated that it didn't bother him in the least and that he does have "thick skin."

ABC Action News Reporter Carson Chambers asked, "People have said this is a waste of tax payer money. How do you respond to that?"

Schnitt said that's what people have heard and that's what they believe.
