Tampa woman drowns after crashing into pond at International Plaza

TAMPA - A Tampa woman died after crashing into a pond at International Plaza on Sunday.

The victim, 26-year-old Susan Hwa Lim, was driving westbound through the mall parking lot when she failed to negotiate a curve in the road and left the road around 3:00 a.m., officials say.

The vehicle went down an embankment, into the pond and submerged 75 feet from shore.

Units and Fire Rescue were not able to immediately find the vehicle.

Tampa Police divers were called in and pulled Lim from the vehicle.

She was taken to St. Joseph's Hospital where she was pronounced dead at 4:31 a.m.

Detectives were continuing their investigation to determine what may have contributed to the crash.
